Former Glo X Factor contestant releases Christmas medley (LISTEN)

Ghanaian representative at the 2013 Glo X Factor West Africa, Silas Karikari Mensah Boateng, has released a rendition of two classic Christmas songs ‘Oh Holy Night & White Christmas medley’, with a touch of Gospel and jazz.

Silas began singing while in the primary school, singing in the same church that he still sings at today. It is here that he found and developed this wonderful talent. He was first noticed as a singer outside the church when he was on the Glo X Factor singing competition, Lagos- Nigeria in the Symphony group. Serving as the lead singer for the trio, his pure and unique voice attracted so much fans and applause anytime the group was on stage since he was very outstanding. This took Symphony to top six, very close to the finals after which the group got evicted.

This opened new horizon for Silas but instead of following the path of other celebrated groups, he left to find his own creative voice by returning to his gospel roots. What has emerged is a captivating performer with a strong and distinct style that is attracting attention everywhere.

‘Oh Holy Night/ White Christmas Medley’ is a Christmas classic single with a touch of a gospel, soul and Jazz. “Aside these two Christmas Carols being my favourites, of which I’ve been dreaming of recording my rendition since childhood, it’s also one of the most looked out for songs. I love swinging with opportunities and moments for myself, and that’s how come a seasonal song is my debut. Also looking at the fact that we have less of our artistes in Ghana recording such tunes, I have taken the bold step to do so and leave a lasting mark. This definitely will be a prelude to my singles and hopefully an album” Silas added.

Silas has performed with international singers like Majek Fashek (Nigeria) and Toni Mansion of Jazz Tone Productions (Ghana). On both secular and gospel platforms, Silas raised standards and bars by rubbing shoulders with local artistes like Joe Mettle, Oware Junior, Eshun (X Factor), Laami (Project Fame), Francis Amo, Bernice Ofei and others.
