Cwesi Oteng Eyes 4syte Mva

Contemporary Ghanaian gospel artiste, Cwesi Oteng, has his eyes on winning the Best Gospel Music Video of the Year category at this year’s Vodafone 4Syte TV Music Video Awards scheduled for this Saturday, 19TH November, at the Accra International Conference Centre. The 2011 Ghana Gospel Industry Awards’ New Artiste of the Year and 2011 Africa Gospel Music Awards nominee for Discovery of the Year and Best Gospel Video of the Year categories revealed this over the weekend.

“I expect to win the Best Gospel Video category of course. This is because to me it’s not all about me. Rather, I see it as a win which will make a statement for Ghanaian gospel music especially those who tag it with mediocrity and monotony of video concepts. It will as well go a long way to quicken colleague gospel artistes to churn out more creative and quality music videos to complement the life changing themes in our music,” Cwesi commented.

“What goes into our music production is of top quality, at least majority of contemporary Ghanaian gospel artistes and groups as well as some notable mainstream artistes and groups show this but our videos have been a letdown. Therefore we should complement and project our music with quality videos they deserve to impact people and speak well of our God,” he further explained. Should Cwesi Oteng’s ‘But for Your Mercy’ video win the award, it will be another high profile recognition for the young artiste and make this year a memorable one for him after holding a grand pre-release concert for his much anticipated ‘Mercy Project’ album at the National Theatre mid in the year, embarking on his preliminary tour of tertiary campuses and embarking on donation and interaction drives at the Lighthouse Orphanage and James Camp Prisons.

In the end Cwesi relayed that, “I am pleased to have my video recognised, nominated and shortlisted for the Vodafone 4Syte Music Video Awards. I love and respect efforts people put into creativity and therefore respect 4Syte TV’s initiative to recognise and promote Ghanaian creative works, in this case, videos. I urge the public to text ‘Best Gospel Video Cwesi Oteng’ to short code 1738 (all networks) and join me make a statement for the new phase of Ghana’s gospel music”.

Cwesi Oteng is a young passionate gospel music sensation who has an album, ‘Blessed Are They’, to his credit. His style of music knows no bound as it transcends different cultures and rhythms. The re-structure of his music ministry and the release of his ‘But for Your Mercy’ song and video, which are preludes to his yet-to-be released Mercy Project album, has garnered him recognition all over the world with his unique music ministry and added focus on charity and youth. His much talked about ‘Mercy (But for Your Mercy)’ video is in the same category with Lady Prempeh, Gifty Osei and No Tribe for this year’s Vodafone-4Syte Music Video Awards.http://www.ameyawdebrah.com/
