Mentor 3 Participant Turns Pastor

TV3's topmost reality show Mentor has always pulled the crowd along either through good delivery in terms of performances or controversy here and there.

This time it is another controversy which has taken a different twist. What is making the news this time has to do with the "self-eviction" of Bright one of the contestants of Mentor 3 which is currently in full gear every Sunday at the station.

Even before the main show starts evicting, Bright has left the Mentor house with the hope of becoming a pastor soon (that is if he hasn't become one).

The family of Bright were said to have held a lengthy meeting with TV3 over the release of their "spiritual son" who has received the "calling" from the Almighty.

Sources close to TV3 and the Mentor House when contacted explained that indeed Bright one of the three contestants from the Ashanti Region started acting funny a couple of days after they were housed.

The source went further to say that, Bright could wake up in the middle of the night screaming or making some funny noise or be praying in tongues, an activity which many of his colleagues find very strange.

This funny continued for a while and the organizers and the leadership of the Mentor House were left with no choice but to contact Bright's parents who received the news with great joy to the surprise and somewhat disappointment of the TV3 management.

Bright's family are said to be no where near letting their new but yet to be fully ordained pastor do any Mentor stuff. To them this is the time for their ward to do God's work. Tried as the organizers did Bright had to pack bag and baggage and out of the Mentor Show for good.

The source continued that, though it is true Bright would be traveling soon outside the country, the main reason was to attend a pastoral school which he had already gained admission and an onward scholarship and this is believed to be the main motive for the decision taken by Bright and his family.

In an emotional farewell message to his Housemates and fans alike, Bright tried to hide to convince all and sundry that he has to travel outside the country to attend school, a decision he couldn't come to terms with personally.

He went on to say sorry for what his decision might cause all involved in the Show.

With tears trickling down the faces of his Housemates and fans who were gathered at Studio B last Sunday, Bright was whisked away to start a new life with a spiritual attachment.

The question many people were asking in the studio was if this was a real calling Bright had received and not mere hallucinations.

It came to the fore during investigations that Ruth of Mentor 1 fame exhibited similar traits when she first came into the Mentor Show.

But after serious counseling sessions Ruth lived through the competition and even went on to place third.

One interesting feature about the departure of Bright was the tears shed by Gina who is the first lady to represent the Eastern Region in the Mentor Reality Show.

As if she knew she would be going out Gina poured down her heart and wept for Bright, little did she know that her time for eviction was up and that she could do with some tears herself.

Gina failed to live up to expectation and became the first casualty of Mentor 3.

It was very interesting considering how Anita, the ever eloquent presenter of the show, handled Gina's eviction. Gina stands a chance of coming back into the House after the sixth week since an opportunity would be opened for contestants evicted by then.

Overall last Sunday's performances were not much impressive though, Paa, Paul, K Gee and Fafa tried in their small ways to carry the fans along with them.

Comparably Mentor 3 is not exhibiting any traits of out staging its predecessors; that is the famous Mentor I and the ever "quality grains" of Mentor 2.

All said and done known faces of the Mentor Show, Mentor fans and critics of Mentor has given Mentor 3 the benefit of the doubt since the beginning of all the Mentor Shows always exhibits this character of a slow pace before catching up gradually with the public.

Next week is another eviction week, who goes home?
