Tinny Lashes At Sound Engineers

Tinny Signature tunes are few bars of piece of music introducing a particular creation or a musician. The fast growing pace of the Ghanaian music industry has made our local sound engineers pride themselves in various signature tunes so they can be associated with a particular song or artiste.

But some of the artistes are not happy with this creation and one who has come out boldly to express his concern is Ghana?s hiplife Ga Mantse, Tinny Nii Addo Quaynor a.k.a Aletse Kankpe. He has lambasted local sound engineers for what he calls their arrogance and pride that they often exhibit when programming their songs.

He has advised them to grow up and mature in the work and stop behaving as if they are artistes that are being featured to sing part of a song. Now known as sexy Tinny, the hiplife old man, Aletse Kankpe made statements recently in an exclusive interview with Ghana Billboard at his Haatso based residence.

According to him, the whole process is childish and unprofessional as such sound engineers must take a second look at the way they bring low Ghanaian music because it is stifling creativity. He referred to engineers who exhibit their signature tunes in music as ?too known people? who are trying to make themselves popular through artistes. ?They are stealing our glory?, he said.

Tinny says he doesn?t understand what the engineers want to achieve if not cheap popularity and fame and advised them to use other means rather than through artistes.

?To me signature tunes of engineers in our music are childish, it is done in America and else where music has grown fairly and developed roots. In any case, these engineers don?t attend shows or appear on stage with us so what?s the big deal?. He mentioned Jay Q, Roland (RoRo), Appietus, King Cyrus among others as major culprits whose works can easily be identified with their signature tunes and warned them to limit or stop it totally for the betterment of the industry.

Asked if he wasn?t making this accusation out hatred for a particular engineer, Tinny replied with a series of ?nos? saying he hates no one.

?Tinny as you see me hates no one, has no enemies and no beef with anyone, but if someone has a beef with me, that?s his/her own problem? he said and also confirms rumours that he is not in good terms with ace engineer Jeff Quaye (Jay Q) and said it was because of a derogatory comment Jay Q once made about him, ?but that?s over, I have forgiven him?, he concluded.
