TiC Tac Goes International With His "Wope" Album

Tic Tac Music was the prolific hiplife star by name Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah?s (Tic Tac) dream way back. When Tic Tac hit the hiplife scene, he brought a certain unique flow, lyrical power and dramatic rhyme to the hiplife forefront and has consistently and successfully meshed highlife with hiphop in a very rare way.

Born to a Ghanaian mother and a Ghanaian father, Tic Tac has been blazing the microphone since his teenage years. The talented dude steadily sharpened his skills by performing at memorable functions and hitting the battle circuit. Later on he came out with his maiden album entitled Masom which shook the airwaves.

He then came out with another album which nearly tore Ghana down by name Masem. Tic Tac who possesses a considerable amount of lyrical dexterity is out with his recent album which is dedicated to Africans within Africa and in the Diaspora. This album is a blend of Anglophone and Francophone musicians in Africa and it goes by the name ?Wope?? (Do you like it? - English, Tu Veux? - French).

Tic Tac is the only Ghanaian artiste who has taken the step to go international. Talking to Ghana Music.Com, he explains why he did that as ?I want to reunite Africans and put them under one umbrella.? Tic Tac sometimes known as the "Most Wanted" continued by explaining how he got into contact with the two international artistes by names Tony Tetuila of ?Rekpete? fame (Nigeria) and Freddy Meiway of ?Zoplazo? fame (Togo).

?I was invited to perform at the International Grand Performance in Nigeria at the Night Shift Coliseum which was organised by the CEO of Night Shift Coliseum and coordinated by Agyae of Vintage Promotions. It was there that I met the producer of Tony Tetuila who is the owner of both Kenny?s Music Production and Primetime Music. He was amazed at my performance and we all arrived at a consensus to join forces together. Afterwards, I went back to Nigeria for the 8th All Africa Games which was put together by Night Shift Coliseum at Nikon Hilton in Abuja. Thereafter, Tony came to Ghana purposely for the recording of my album.?

?For Freddy Meiway, I met him in Ghana during his tour which was organised by Mr. Ofori (CEO of Sovereign Music). He also liked the idea of us coming together and then a deal was in the cooking.?

The lyrically gifted chap has 11 classic tunes on his current album titled ?Wope? which is receiving massive airplay. ?Kwani Kwani? opens the album with backing vocals from NBA, Akua Gyamfua and Angela Brifo. Next on the album is the sensational hit track ?Wope? featuring the famous Togolese artiste Freddy Meiway. You have got to listen to this track because the combination is not only soothing to the soul but also offers stimulation to the mind. ?Fefe Na Efe? featuring the tremendous Nigerian star Tony Tetuila comes third on the album. This lovely tune has something nice to offer the general public.

Other lovely tracks include ?Angela? which features the top award winners at the just ended Ghana Music Awards who bear the group name VIP, ?Push? featuring Tinny who also won the new artiste of the year at the Ghana Music Awards, ?Yaa Densoa? which features Aberewa Nana(the magnificent female hiplife rapper), ?Menkasen?.

Tic Tac has also got other marvelous tracks like ?Curiousity? featuring Jeho, ?Mepewo?, ?Mpu Ni Mpu? and lastly an instrumental of the impressive track ?Fefe Na Fefe?. Tic Tac who is moving up the hiplife ladder will be having a press conference at the National Theatre on 23rd June, 2004 and will be followed by a musical launch and his first concert ever since he recorded this album on 26th June, 2004. The general public should be there to see him perform with artistes like Tony Tetuila, Freddie Meiway, VIP, Tinny and the likes.

When Tic Tac went to Nigeria recently for a show which was organised by Kenny?s Music Production dubbed Kenny?s Easter Jam in Victoria Island, the acceptance over there was too large. The police had to fire gunshots for people to make way for him. The crowd was waiting for him to perform the hit tracks in Nigeria, ?Push?, ?Angela? and ?Fefe Na Efe?.

He has performed very well in most countries and on international stages. He has done several major shows like Tropical Showcase in the UK which features international artistes such as Judy Boucher. He was also signed on Base Management?s record label in the UK for one year when he came out with his maiden album titled ?Masom? whose video was rated as one of the best in the country.

Currently, he is the Greater Accra Vice President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).  Album credits go to Roland at Hit Digital Studio, David Gervai (USA), Kobby (wrote the additional lyrics on Yaa Densoa), Quick Action, NBA, Akua Gyamfua, Angela Brifo, TN Records, Walter Moon, Omololo.

He is grateful to Alordia Promotions, Goodies Music Production in Ghana (handles the album in Ghana), Kenny?s Music Production in Nigeria (distributes the album in the West Coast), Showbiz in Cote D`Ivoire(handles the one in Cote D`Ivoire), Tony Tetuila, Freddy Meiway, Tinny, VIP, Aberewa Nana and Jeho. His last words were ?I am here to open new gates for Ghana music.?

From my point of view, I think this talented dude is certainly one of the best and his lyrics touch on the everyday aspects of life. Keep your fingers crossed for his musical launch.
