'She', the Nightingale In The Ghanaian Music Industry.

She Known to be one of the most talented stars in modern times, her choice has always been to stay behind the scenes to make it big. It will come as a surprise to know how beauty and music is greatly possessed within her.

I found her at the Creative Studios at Dansoman behind the microphone. Popularly known as ?She?- the daylight star behind most hitting songs, her greatness is through her numerous backing and leading vocals to most Ghanaian hit songs.

Her biological recognition is Yvonne Ohene Djan and was born on November 10 1981 to Mr. Daniel Ohene Djan and Mrs. Elizabeth Aggrey. The native of Mankessim in the Central Region who loves cooking, watching movies, listening to music and reading spent a year and a half in Takoradi Secondary School and completed her remaining years at Bishop Potter Girls.

Her initial attempt to make her dream come through was with a youth choir in the cathedral at the age of seven. Miraculously after several years in the singing group, God answered her prayers. She met a gospel singer named Romaine in 1995, and with her help, she was able to take her first step into national music, where she exhibited all that she had.

After her term with Alhaji Sidiku Buari, which took a short period, she was introduced to Skills Multimedia and later on to Faisal Helwani where she spent two years. It was during her course with Jay Q that all her dreams became a reality.

Since then, she has  become the voice behind hitting tracks like Nkasei?s ?Mama Wei De Eko Ma Wo?, Tic Tac?s ?Angelina?, ?Adepa Hye Adepa Mu? by Lumba, Jay Dee?s ?Alampan? and ?Sweet Dzedze?, ?Mesuro Mpo? by A Pluz, Lord Kenya?s ?Baby Nayoka?, ?Asee Ho? by Lumba and Borax.

She also featured on songs of the late Terry Bonchaka, Nana Agyemang, Tinny and George Darko and teamed up with Latifa, Mzbel, Tagoe Sisters, Rev. Yawson, Akosua Agyapong and the likes.

As if that was all, she has blessed songs like Sidney?s ?Scent No? and ?My Sweetie?, ?Sardine? by Ofori Amponsah, ?Ah? by Reggie Rockstone, and Obour?s ?Konkontiba? with her voice.

After showcasing her swooning voice on K.K. Fosu?s ?Anadwo Yi?, Rex Omar?s ?Didadadididi? and Okyeame Quame?s  ?M?ate Ahwe Ne Do Mu?, she was featured on  Kofi Nti?s ?Rakia? which is still hot in the market, Genevieve Nnaji?s  ?No More?, majority of the sound tracks of Eboni Band's Money & Fame album and ?Awuraba? and ?Soldier by  Nana Quame.

Last year, she toured California and Switzerland with Nat Brew and Appietus of Creative Studios and performed at a show with Obrafour, Kwaadee and Sydney in the United States.

When she was through with the show, she made way for Germany, moved to France and finally to Holland where she did some interviews and commercials on Sankofa Television. Considering her extension of fame worldwide, she was chosen to collaborate with Rita Marley and do a jingle for Wyclef.

Back home in Ghana, she does not only sing but does advertisements like Mortein Insecticide, Vita quick, Vita milk, Aganzi, Moneygram, Model of the Universe, Tom-tom, Keysoap and others.

The beautiful young talented ?fox? who was inspired by Lauryn Hill, Toni Braxton and Erykah Badu after all these achievements is excited on remaining single but hopes for the right time.

Apart from all the activities she participates in, she is a designer, a sex therapist and a ballet-dancer as well as study acrobatics and teaches ?Mapouka dance?.

She concludes that, all the young males and females out there should always protect themselves because AIDS is real and reminds all to put God first in whatever they do. She can be reached via her mail: shekisz@yahoo.com.
