Shasha Marley Returns

A Ghanaian reggae music star, Shasha Marley, who went on break for a couple of months, has announced his return to the music scene with his latest musical album which boasts of the title track, Buum Buum, Waa Waa.

He happens to be one of the few surviving reggae music stars in the country presently, who are keeping the flame of reggae music burning.

The young, talented reggae music star, who has been offering all his creative talents for the advocacy of transformation in society and draw public attention to the negative effects of HIV/AIDS, returned home last week from Jamaica where he recorded his latest album with support from Burning Spear, Yellow Man and the Wailers Band.

The ten - track CD album has songs like Maata Family, Lost And Found, So Nyame Mu, I?m Not Ashamed Of The Gospel, Evil Spirit, Walk Away among others.

Shasha is an incredible Ghanaian musician and his songs are among the best African reggae songs ever written. With the good rhythm and drum-beats, many fans who watch him perform live on stage often forget decorum as they sing in abandon alongside Shasha Marley.

For most of his fans who have had the opportunity to listen to Shasha?s latest album on radio, the album has more dancehall rhythms.

He is generally more concentrated on reggae music, but his style is superb. All his songs have highly sensitive themes, including politics in Africa.

Known for his exceptional performances across Europe and America, Shasha Marley is noted also for his unique stagecraft, which has been hailed by musicians and critics alike in Ghana and beyond. Shasha Marley, who inhabited the very rudiments of music right from his childhood, has nurtured himself very well to become a fine reggae musician.

This is because the enterprising singer with the amazing voice, managed to work hard despite his natural talents, to carve a niche for himself.

Shasha Marley has been singing since he was a teenager and has since been amazing audiences with his talents.

He comes on stage in a hood over a matching cassock and a sash.

Described as the monk on the loose, he lets out his captivating voice and takes over the stage with an incredible stage show. Ingenuity and sheer prowess characterise his performances.

He has recorded alongside several top artistes and won several awards. When the Hall of Fame multi Grammy Awards winner, Isaac Hayes heard his music, he said, ?Wow, this brother is pure talent, he and I are going to do great things together,? and sure enough, they have.

He has led 15 top Ghanaian artistes in an all - star musical collaboration which was produced via the sponsorship of the John Hopkins University in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Truly a reggae musician with a heart, he has really been in the forefront of the war against HIV/AIDS, using music to break the stigma as he goes from village to village with his message.
Growing up, Shasha was inspired by great artistes as Bob Marley, Winston Rodney (Burning Spear), Steel Pulse, Jimmy Cliff and many others.

Tell Freedom, which was Shasha?s maiden album, hit the charts as soon as it was released. This was followed by several other recordings which have done equally well on the African Music scene.

During the first Miss Universe (Ghana) Beauty pageant show organized by Media Touch Productions and Essence International, Shasha tore the house down with his exclusive performance.

He was invited also by the Libyan leader, Muammar al- Gadhafi to perform for all African presidents at the last Organization of African Unity (OAU) summit, held in Tripoli in 2001.

Shasha Marley has performed for tourists and music lovers at all notable entertainment spots and centers both home and abroad, but ironically, it was his maiden album that placed him on the African musical map.

So far, Shasha Marley has not relented on his pursuit to make a difference in this world through his dynamic songs.

He is ever more determined to change and transform lives all over the world.

His up-coming project testifies that he hopes to help revolutionize his country with his music.
