Philipa Back With ?Yesu Ye Me Last Stop?

Kumasi is known to be the greatest hub of gospel music activities in the country and so it does not come as surprise that most of the hit makers (of that genre) in Ghana happen to live there.

One of the many musicians who has contributed to giving this tag to the Garden City is Philipa Baafi. The beautiful gospel singer has just released her third album titled ?Yesu Ye Me Last Stop?, a collection that brings out the best in her.

The title song ?Yesu Ye Me Last Stop? is one that is delivered in a mid-tempo style reggae. It starts with some male vocal rendition that talks about how the singer has toiled in asking about and looking for Jesus and how he has become his final destination.

Then Philipa comes in to talk about how she has suffered going from north to south, from one fetish priest to another and yet could not get any solution to her problems. Then she finds Christ and her problems are solved.

Philipa tells everybody who has any problem to look no further than Christ for a solution because he happens to be the ?last stop?. It is a very beautiful song with nice female backing vocals.

?Me Ye Nhyira Ba? is another song on the album that most listeners would find appealing. The musician says that she is a blessed child and that Jesus has lifted her up to shame her enemies.

The song is rendered in Akan and Pidgin English. Though very good in terms of rhythm and lyrics, it gets to a point where one feels that the voice goes out of key before coming back, a defect that the sound engineer could have rectified. That aside, Philipa does very well with ?Me Ye Nhyira Ba?.

One other song on the album that need mention is ?Nyame homhom Sane? which literally means ?Spirit Of God, descend?. It is a song which comes in a very slow tempo (the type that many would refer to as ?worship song? by just hearing the tempo).

Here the singer and her backing vocalists are heard asking God to cause his Spirit and his children. This is because the times are heard and it is only when God comes in that the problems can be solved.

Philipa Baafi attended St. Monica?s Secondary School on government scholarship where she was the Assistant Head Prefect. At the moment, she owns a beauty clinic in Kumasi called Philibells Health and Beauty Clinic, the local agent for German based Weyergan Health and Beauty Clinic.

She considers running a beauty clinic as a profession and sees singing is an expression of the talent God has given her. She is very happy to be combining the two.

?The power of God is great on this album and whoever buys it would never be the same,? says Philipa. She adds that the songs on the album are dedicated to orphans in Ghana. Her two former albums are ?Mogya nkasa? and ?Okyeso Nyame?.

?Yesu Ye Me Last Stop? is an album produced by Frimprince Music Production with Anane Frimpong as the Executive Producer.
