Gospel Fiesta At National Theatre

Pastor Josh Laryea & Rev Yaw Baah Barimah With the combined powers of more than 15 seasoned gospel artistes,?the holy spirit? will certainly descend when both international and national stars mount the dais to glorify the Lord in a mega concert on August 21.

The concert can simply be called the clash of the titans since renowned gospel singers who can be classified in the old school category would meet new gospel artistes to display their God given talents.

The musical extravaganza which is scheduled to take place at the National Theatre is to enable the gospel artistes form a well organised associate body that would help champion their cause and also help groom up and coming young people who want to join the gospel train.

The concert is being put together and sponsored by Lisars Music, Cororange Blood Tonic and Borgess Olive Oil is dubbed Kingdom Praise 2004 and it would be in various categories, that is, solo, dual and group performances.

Those in the solo category include Amy Newman, Esther Smith, Cindy Thompson, Pastor Josh Laryea, Nana Yaw Barimah, Christiana Love, Lady Prempeh, Seth Frimpong, Jude Lomotey and Kwaku Gyasi.Dual artistes are the versatile Tagoe Sisters, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Jane and Bernice, with Alabaster Box and others representing the group category.

To add pizza to the night?s event, people who attend the show would have the opportunity to listen to the latest tunes of old Nana Yaw Barimah who is now based in the States, and Pastor Josh Laryea who will both launch their albums during the show.

The audience would have the opportunity to listen to some of the hearty tunes of the Tagoe Sisters who can be best described as revolutionists of the gospel scene and some intricate dance movement by the ?Dancing Prophet? whose Me Huri So have dominated both the political and social environments of the country.

For those who cannot easily recall Nana Yaw, he first came out with a solid album with which the title track Obosom Wo Ho became a hit in the early 90s. Nana Yaw is expected to perform alongside other US based Ghanaian gospel artistes who intend to throw surprises by blending some of the local tunes with other foreign tunes which would certainly go down well with all and sundry.
