Elivava, diva for good cause

Known in private life as Tina Mensah Gbevi, Elivava, Ghana’s music diva believes empowering women to achieve more will be a positive development and a step in the right direction. She said women have been marginalized for long hence there is the need for young girls of today to identify what they are made of in order to contribute positively to national development.

Elivava, the new sensation in town spoke to Showghana’s Ignatius Annor over lunch, in which she disclosed what she is up to on the entertainment scene in Ghana and beyond.

According to Elivava, the entertainment industry in Ghana generally and the music business in particular is very “pathetic”. She said, “In this industry in our part of the world nobody would want to help you. This is a worrying trend that may tend to cripple the music industry in Ghana since up and coming artists are not being motivated enough to join the music train”.

She noted there are instances where people like to sleep with you because they claim they want to help you, saying it is embarrassing. Elivava also observed that some frustrated producers would even go to the extent of putting one’s work under the pillow forgetting lots of resources were invested into it.

Elegant Elivava, a symbol of modern Ghanaian womanhood further said that she believes in the true African, which is why she dresses like a true African woman. “I really value what we have in terms of culture, tourism, minerals and I am content with the African values,” she said.

Elivava, one of Africa’s promising artists whose future is very bright has worked tirelessly with artists such as Rocky Dawuni, Nat Brew, Samini, Rex Omar, Kojo Antwi, Sidney and several others she couldn’t remember off head.

She is currently out with her maiden album dubbed “I LIVE 4EVER”.The album has 10 tracks on it and promises to rise to the top in no time.
