Akatakyie Releases New Album

While many people believe, the greatest function of hiplife music, aside of entertainment, is the strong message it sends through its lyrics; but the rap duo, Akatakyie?s latest album, titled Esi, is just soul-touching.

Most of the songs on the album are very educative, which do not express gratitude to leaders in society.

The album, released on October 20, 2006, is laden with ten danceable tunes which would surely meet the high demands of music lovers in Ghana and beyond.

It has interesting songs which seek to educate the public on issues affecting the society.

In almost all the songs on the album, the duo, ?Akatakyie?, sang splendidly in their sleeking voice with confidence, and displayed a high-level experience, as well as complementing it with very rich instrumentation.

The album opens with the title-track, Esi, in a fast-paced danceable song, which charges people to handle women with extreme circumspecttion.

The songs on the album are so captivating, when one listened to it, they would be forced to go to the dancing floor to dance their hearts out.

Among all the ten tracks, there isn't a single poor quality song. ?Akatakyie? has put so much flair into all the tracks, it leaves one virtually wanting more.

What makes the songs pleasant is the import of messages, as well as the raps which go with them.

Another bouncing track, ?Sie Sie Obaanu?, advises men to treat women with greater respect, prepare them and give them the necessary care they deserve.

A song as, ?Fa ma me?, advises and encourages women to be submissive to their partners, since they head the families.

Both pieces of advice were merged in the fourth track, ?Sweetie?, a message to both sexes, warning them not to jilt their partners in times, when they were needed most.

The rest of the superb tracks, which one cannot ignore, are ?Awode Mi?, ?Lady?, ?Omanba Pa? and ?Ghana Mbaa?, featuring artistes as, Okyeme Kwame, Malaika, Nana Ama and Black Prophet.

The creative, beautiful use of instrumentation continues throughout the album on ?Sweetie, with the singing perfectly matched to the music.

Among the original 10 tracks, there isn't a single weak song. On ?Esi?, Akatakyie put their whole style on the line to a sweet track, and leave you utterly convinced.

On it, they recite some verses and summarised in a sentence.

As a matter of fact, the beat on all the songs are worth the price of admission. Akatakyie brend the rhythm on its songs with typical hiplife fused with traditional rhythm to satisfy the demands of music lovers.

The album has no shortage of great songs, and the magnificent production by J.B Asafo Boakye of Soul Records. All told, Akatakyie is, hands down, the great. With their hot track, ?Esi?, grab a copy now.
