Gebrselassie urges all "Run The Change In You"

Ethiopian marathon Legend Haile Gebrselassie urges all "RUN THE CHANGE IN YOU"

The first rated international marathon to take place in Ghana will host World and Ethiopian marathon Legend Haile Gebrselassie. Haile Gebrselassie will make a maiden entry into the nation on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 to prelude the main marathon event that will come off in September this year.
This will be the first time Ghana will be hosting such a momentous marathon event for both local and international runners, and the first time the World Marathon runner will arrive in Ghana. Organizers of the event, Millennium Marathon Sports Company noted that the event will boost Ghana’s economy in terms of trade and tourism.
As thousands of marathon runners are expected to participate in this maiden edition across the capital, Mr. Ashim Morton, Managing Partner of the Millennium Marathon Sports Company has disclosed that the event will be memorable with a mix of ambassadorial and ministerial runs to promote health, tourism and trade. The event will attract over 15000 runners both locally and internationally.
The Millennium Marathon Sports Company is working alongside major stakeholders in the country; the Government of Ghana, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Tourism Ministry, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Ghana Police Service, Health Ministry, Diplomatic Corps, Coca Cola, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Daily Graphic, Alisa Hotel, Ethiopian Embassy and Ethiopian Airlines.
The 21k km and 5k km marathon will commence from the Independence Square through principal streets in the capital city and end at the Independence Square.
Haile Gebrselassie is an Ethiopian long-distance track and road running athlete and has won two Olympic gold medals over 10k km.
He has set 27 world records and to his credit, won four World Championship titles. Haile Gebrselassie is the most famous man in Ethiopia and in the World marathon events. The five-time World Champion broke a marathon world record at the 2008 Berlin Marathon.
Affectionately called the "Emperor of Ethiopian athletics" (by BBC), Haile Gebrselassie is no doubt the much sought after legend in marathon events across the globe. He will arrive at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on March 10 at 11 am.
An official media launch will be held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on March 10, 2015 for the media to get up-close with the legend.
