Middlesbrough still keen on Derek Boateng

Midfielder Derek Boateng is on trial with Wigan with a view to a permanent move to the JJB Stadium but is still interesting Middlesbrough Football Club boss Steve McLaren.

Boateng has spent the majority of his career in Greece including a spell with Panathinaikos but has recently been playing for AIK Solna in the Swedish League.

With Solna being relegated from the top flight, Boateng is free to leave and is aiming to impress Latics? boss Paul Jewell as he continues his search for a new midfielder.

Middlesbrough are still keeping an eye on the player who had a trial at the Riverside Stadium in the summer of 2003 and may make a move if a deal with Wigan does not materialise.
