Sports Council calls for truce

between Executive Council Nyaho-Tamakloe saga

Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - Mr Albert Agbozo, Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) will on Wednesday, November 3, hold a meeting with the Executive Council and Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a bid to solve the ongoing impasse between the two parties.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, Mr Agbozo said the Council decided to call the meeting following the extent to which the case is heading so as to prevent it from bringing chaos to the nation. Mr Agbozo said the impasse has already left in its trail a nation completely torn apart and devastated "in our bid to make the first historic appearance at the World Cup in 2006".

He said "what is happening can have a long term negative effect on the development of football in the country if a lasting solution is not found and applied."

According to Mr Agbozo, the present conflict will give a wrong signal to soccer fans especially those who believe in confrontation and appealed to the two parties to smoke the peace pipe and let sanity prevail.
