Martinez saddened by Atsu’s injury setbacks

Everton Manager Roberto Martinez is saddened with the injury situation of on-loan Chelsea player Christina Atsu.

Atsu’s stint with the Merseyside club has been blighted with a series of injuries since joining the club.

Though Atsu was expected to hit the ground running after the 2015 African Cup of Nations that has not been the case.

“It has been disappointing to have Aiden McGeady out for such a long period and Christian Atsu suffering set-backs this season.

“It is important to have that width and pace in your play and Aaron Lennon gives us that.” Martinez told Echo.

These comments by the Spaniard suggest how frustrated he is after his team failed to book a place in the last 8 of the Europa League and their failure to grind results in the EPL.

The former FC Porto winger has just played five league games for the Toffees since his loan move from Chelsea in June 2014
