Keep the Queens – Bayor

Former Black Queens captain Adjoa Bayor has advised the technical team of the female senior national team, Black Queens not to disband the current squad, despite their failure to progress to the knockout phase of the African Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia.

Yusif Basigi charges are expected arrived yesterday after their disastrous campaign in Windhoek, Namibia.

The entire team is expected to be kept for future assignments due to their ages but critics say those who failed to perform at the Championship should give way for others.

Bayor, however, disagrees with this assertion saying the future of the Queens looks bright but will need additional experienced players to be able to drive the team forward.

“I will disagree with the people who are calling for the team to be disbanded. It’s wrong because they are young and will just need experienced players like some of us to make the team better.

“Although there is much work to be done on the team, I totally disagree with them, they should keep them together and organise friendly matches for them, both local and international to build their cohesion and confidence.

“All is not lost if they are able to do we can make it again. Nigeria did that and we are all seeing the results why can’t we do the same”. She stated.

Meanwhile former coach of the side, Kuuku Dadzie says his successor Yusif Basigi should not be sacked but should be given an ample time to be with the team.

“We like firing coach a lot why sack him when the fault is not from him, he has to be with the team, train them and see what he has for the team in the near future,” he stated.
