Sports Authority to dissolve inactive associations

Director of Sports in the Ashanti region Saka Acquaye says it is about time the National Sports Authority took the bull by the horn to dissolve inactive associations.

Thirty-eight sporting Associations are under the National Sports Authority, with other unknown associations trying as much as possible to be given the green light to join the umbrella body.

With the exception of the notable ones, such as boxing, swimming, athletics, weightlifting and the likes, the other disciplines have failed to produce any meaningful results both locally and international.

And this has angered Saka Acquaye who says he will consult the Director General of the National Sports Authority to dissolve some of the ailing associations under the sports authority.

“We have a lot of the Associations that are inactive at all, as at now, we have 38 Associations, and even as at now, some other unknown associations are still chasing us for confirmation.

“It’s about time we see and dissolve those associations that are not working, they do complimentary cards, call themselves presidents and general secretaries and they do nothing. You call them for meeting and they don’t show up, it’s about time I speak to Mr. Kpenga to see the way forward for some of these associations.”
