Aspire Dreams select young footballers at Bukom

The eighth edition of Aspire Dreams Academy to scout for talented sports boys and girls and send them to Qatar for scientific and modern training has kicked off with Bukom talents having their share of the programme.
Last weekend saw over 150 young boys and girls trooping the popular Bukom Square to play and convince the selectors or justify their inclusion in the team for the international programme.
The Aspire branch of the Greater Accra region led by Makkenzy Golightly and Sammy Heywood Okine as well as Michael Golightly organised a Health Talk as part of the exercise to groom the sports kids and educate them on the two topical diseases that have been the talk of town in the past few weeks.
A nurse from the Usher Clinic was dispatched to lead the speech on Cholera and Ebola. Ethel Nettey advised the young sports men to be aware of their clean environment and try to live in sanitary conditions. She cautioned them on the danders of the diseases and how it can kill and be transmitted very easily.
She gave them the symptoms of Cholera and Ebola and advised them to wash their hands with soap over running water and make sure not to share sweat.
Henry Abossy, a notary public in the area also advised them to live healthy lives if they want to become top super stars in future.
Prophet Afolabi, a pastor also urged the players to be law abiding and be spiritual and religious if they want to make it big in life. He tasked them to be disciplined and respect elderly people, apart from taking their education very serious.
George Aforklenyuie of Aspire Dreams who made a surprise visit to the training session also expressed his satisfaction with the zeal and enthusiasm of the young players and assured them that their future is bright with Aspire and they should pray and play their best as the best performers stand the chance of being selected to Doha for an international experience in a first class training facility.
The players who were drawn from colts clubs such as All Yankees, Me and You Babies, King Doko Babies and schools exhibited great skill and talent.
People who had nothing to do with football even stopped all activities to watch the young talents train and prepare for the grand selection date on Tuesday, 23rd September at the same venue.
According to Project Coordinator, Makkenzy Golightly the next session for the real selection would be a grand event as all the players want to impress and show the coaches what they have. He was very optimistic that some of the boys from Bukom will make it to the final national selection.
"Our boys in Greater Accra, especially Bukom and surrounding areas have really trained for the national selection and we are very hopeful of getting one or two players who can make the grade. I know it would not be easy, but we are very hopeful because the young players here are very good. I am very glad that they all attend school and can express themselves well. They are also very courageous and bold" he said.
The 23rd September date has caught up very well with the soccer public in Bukom and many people will be watching the selection at the most popular field in Accra.
