Include supporters in Planning Committees - Mr. Futah

Mr. Aziz Haruna Futah, President of the Nationwide Supporters Union (NSU), has suggested that, members of organised supporters body must be included in future planning committees to ensure effective organisation.

“My Lord, they don’t involve us in the planning of activities when the national team is travelling even though they are planning for us.

“It is important that in future we are involved in the planning processes as well, so that we can also make our input on accommodation, transportation and other activities”, Mr. Futah told the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday.

He however, disagreed with suggestions that, government should stop sponsoring fans to competitions, adding that, fans are integral part of the game.

According to Mr. Futah, there are genuine supporters who must be identified and sponsored to competitions and not tourists.

“I don’t think it’s a bad idea to sponsor supporters to competitions because it is once in two and four years.

“We have been taking care of our activities over the years, it is only when there are competitions that government comes in. So I disagree with those who are speaking against sponsoring supporters to competitions.”

Mr. Futah told the commission that, all members of his group who went to Brazil have since returned to Ghana.
