Sellas assures Ghanaians of qualification to AYC

Head coach of the Black Satellites, Sellas Tetteh has assured Ghanaians of qualification to the Africa Youth Championship (AYC) despite the goalless draw game with the Panthers of Gabon at the Accra Sports Stadium, on Sunday.

The Black Satellites displayed a less convincing effort in the first leg of the qualification and will travel to the Libreville a fortnight to determine who seals a place in the competition slated for Senegal next month.

The 2009 U-20 World Cup gold medalist told GNA Sports, though his opponents played a tactical game, his team will defeat the Panthers to go through in the next leg.

He said “in football, we can’t only count on our confidence, but correct our mistakes and perform better in the second leg. It was a good entertaining game but just that it lacked goals but it happens sometimes. We will re-organise our game plan in the second leg and I believe we will qualify.

He added that “I wasn’t surprised with the Gabonese strategy because they happen to do the same thing in their last game against Rwanda and they had it right but it will not always work for them. We will change the format and see how it goes".

Ghana will face Gabon in the final round qualification of the AYC.
