Master Tactician Moses Cofie reveals interest in Hearts coaching job

Former Accra Hearts of Oak star Moses Cofie who is now an accomplished coach has revealed his interest in handling the Premier club.

Speaking to yours truly in an exclusive interview the man who players call “Master Tactician” said he is ready to transform Accra Hearts of Oak into what all Phobians want it to be.

According to Cofie who has watched most Heats matches since returning from Sudan where he coached top sides, Hearts have very good players and what is left is a motivating and inspiring manager who can change their focus, attitude and mentality.

He noted that he has what it takes to make Hearts of Oak champions again, and when he is given the job, fans will see that there are very good local trainers. “I have studied the Hearts team for a long time, and I know how to place the players in their favourite positions and make them play the game that would draw the supporters to to the stadium. Moses Cofie who holds both CAF and FIFA licenses and has coached top sides in Togo, Benin, Nigeria and Sudan hinted that the Hearts job would be very easy because the team has many talented and skilful players who are capable of playing for the national team.

He mentioned players like Nuru Sulley, Ruben Gnane, Ollenu Ashitey, Hayford, Winful Cobbina, Kofi Abanga, Philemon MacCarthy, Owusu Bempa and others as gems who can be polished to become international stars.

He reiterated that he is very ready for the job, because he knows the wishes and aspirations of the fans.

“You know I have sat in the stands on many occasions with the supporters and I know how they feel and what they want, I am the man who can change the tide and continue the winning way of Hearts” he said.

Moses Cofie played for Accra Hearts of Oak, Accra Great Olympics, Enugu Rangers of Nigeria, AS Sogara of Gabon and Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia. He has promised to use his rich experience to make Hearts get back to international form. On the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, he expressed his joy for the wonderful display by the players and teams. He said there are no more minnows in the game of football as all the 32 participating nations displayed good football, excerpt that there were a few indiscipline players like Pepe of Portugal and Alex Song of Cameroun who let their nations down by attracting unnecessary red cards which could have been avoided and contribute to their country’s success.

He was happy with the way goals are scored in almost every match and declared that he loves goals, because they are the reason why players toil on the field On the Black Stars, he felt they played a great game against the United States of America who came in very determined to revenge the two defeats they suffered in the hands of the Ghana in 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa.

He noted that the Black Stars players were not bad on the day because they had all the chances and could have won, however they were unlucky, and after they equalized they should have cooled down the game, but they wanted to take the lead and the corner kick that earned the Americans their second goal was just mistake because the Ghanaian defenders were not man marking.

He urged Ghanaians not to argue so much or blame Coach Dr. Kwesi Appiah, but pray that the Black Stars also revenge against the Germans who beat Ghana 1-0 in 2010 in South Africa, and the Bochum disaster some years back when they demolished the Stars by 6 goals to one.

“We also have to be focused, determined, anxious and battle it out with Germany and Portugal, so that we can qualify to the next stage of the World Cup. We have the men, we have a good technical staff of tried and tested coaches like Sam Arday, Masud Dramani, Otto Addo and former skipper Stephen Appiah who can motivate the players to forget about USA and go on to win the next two matches. He named Holland, Belgium, Mexico, Germany, Croatia, Ghana and Brazil as the teams to watch.
