WC: Desailly tips Ivory Coast over Ghana

Ghanaian-born former France international Marcel Desailly has tipped Ivory Coast over Ghana at the 2014 World Cup.

Desailly insists that the 1992 African champions will reach the last four of the tournament to become Africa’s torch bearers this time.

“I believe in Ghana, but I think that among all the African teams, Côte D'Ivoire have a greater potential. Much of Ivorian players are first-choice in major European clubs. For me, Côte D'Ivoire have a potential and they can get to the semi-finals,” Desailly told Football.fr.

He added: “Ghana is in a very difficult group comprising of Germany, Portugal and USA.”

The Black Stars have gone past the group stages in all their previous two World Cups whilst the Elephants are yet to survive the group stages.
