We would have paid foreigners higher so why not our own? Reading through the comments it shows slavery has really blinded us. Pay him just like we would have paid foreign coaches.

We pay foreigners higher because they are expatriates. Its tougher to recruit from abroad than to recruit locally. I think they are even paying him too much. If he doesn't want the money, he can give up the job.

Stevanovich made it to the semi finals of CAN 2012 and he was fired. Appiah made the semis and he was retained. The point here being that we have hold expatriates to a higher standard and so we pay them better.

I was going to say £150k is a decent amount of money for a country like Ghana given our GDP and cost of living etc, but you are right about the useless girlfriends of useless ministers.

Take Asamoah Djan as an example when they were bluff him in the UK and he moved to Al Ain in the UAE. So, if we want a coach the caliber of Akwasi Appiah we should open up our village minds and pay international salary or we should not call him names if he leaves us. Quite people like him do not say much, but when they are angry and make a decision it is usually impossible to convince them to reverse their decision. Ghanaians want him to lift the World Cup but want to pay him "skin-pain" salary.

Some of the money coaches get paid is premium to encourage them to take up the job. Kwasi Appiah is a great coach, but there is no need to pay him a premium to stay in his own country. If he were coaching Brazil or Spain before he was invited to coach Ghana, I'm sure they would have paid him a higher salary. The highest salary doesn't always go to the most qualified person. People whose families live in developed nations need higher salaries to support the lifestyles of their families in those developed countries.

Will it be reasonable to suggest that every foreign trained person who comes to Ghana should be paid as is they were abroad? Granted, some of the foreign trained Ghanaians might be better than the foreigners in their own countries, but when they come to Ghana, they don't get paid as much as people in the Europe and America. The cost or living in Ghana is nowhere near the cost of living in most first world countries. There are so many factors that go into determining a person's salary other than just inferiority complex as some of you are suggesting. Supply and demand determines in large part what a person's compensation will be. If coach Appiah win's the world cup and is in high demand, I'm sure he will be paid a lot more even in Ghana.

can do with no doubt.The Ghana Black Stars have talented individual players.Therefore,any smart guy can be the Coach.This is not to demean the present local Coach.
Almost all the past foreign Coaches the Country ever had,had nothing extraordinary to offered.I don't want to make mention of names. It was the quality of the individual players that helped them to succeed.
A Coach could be fired at any moment that is
one reason they earn fat salaries. There's other reasons which I have no idea .Anyway.
