Asante Kotoko banned from Baba Yara Stadium

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been banned temporarily from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium following fans assault on referee E.R Binney in their 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in Kumasi.

The referee suffered various degrees of assaults after the match in the tunnel on his way back to the dressing room.

The Ghana FA executive committee has then issued a sanction letter to punish Kotoko by closing the Baba Yara Stadium as their home grounds.

According to the letter sighted by Goal Ghana, the committee laid emphasis on water, missiles and other objects thrown to the field of play after the game by irate supporters of the Fabulous Club.

The interim C.E.O of Kotoko Opoku Nti seems satisfied with the sanctions given his outfit, adding that the supporters are to blame.

“It's true we've received a letter from the GFA this morning,” Nti told Goal. ”Upon glancing through the letter I think we don't have any basis to appeal.”

He added: "We [Kotoko] should have taken a cue from what happened last season against Medeama. We suffered immensely from that, I think we don't learn from experience.”

Kotoko will there have to play their remaining home matches including the 'Amagaxoxo' against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak on a neutral grounds.
