ALFOSU off to Burkina Faso to support Black Queens

The All for One Supporters Union (ALFOSU) are once again demonstrating their commitment to Mother Ghana by mobilizing a massive fans’ entourage to travel to the Burkina Faso capital, Ouagadougou this Sunday in order to render first hand support for the national women’s soccer team, Black Queens in their African Cup qualifier.

After missing out on the last tournament in Equatorial Guinea 2012, the Queens face their Burkinabe counterparts in a two legged tie to see who progresses to the final qualifying round for the 9th Africa Women’s Championship Namibia 2014. The top three sides at the 8-team tournament slated for November 11-25 will represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.

ALFOSU which has since formation in 2008 been ever present at all Ghana international matches and even extending to other sporting disciplines, say they are sending over two hundred fans to Ouagadougou to ensure the Black Queens beat the Female Stallions in the first leg to claim the bragging rights ahead of the return game.

“We like sports and know the value of success of our sports teams to the country that’s why we will continue to support Ghanaian teams wherever they compete internationally,” Abdul Mohammed Samadu, founder of ALFOSU told www.sportsinghana.com.

He enunciated more on the supporters union which take to heart all sporting disciplines and has branches spread all over Ghana. Tamale, Bawku, Bolga and Wa are the main branches from where the over 200 fans will travel to Burkina Faso to support the Queens. There are also branches in Kumasi and Aflao.

“We want people to know that we are not doing it because of the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. We have a track record, this is not the first time we are travelling outside to support Ghana. Our first match was the Ghana versus Sudan World Cup qualifying match at the Accra Sports Stadium in 2009,” Mr. Samadu explained.

He continued: “We then went to Benin in the same qualifiers, Angola 2010 was next before we went to South Africa 2010 to support the Black Stars at the World Cup. Equatorial Guinea 2012, we were there, South Africa 2013 before even the recent CHAN 2014 in SA, we are always there supporting Ghanaian teams at qualifying matches everywhere, even Egypt.

“We travel to support canoeing, dragon boat, rolling, swimming, boxing, every sport, even in rain, we are there to support them because we are all for one, one for all. We even don’t forget our community that’s why we have a clean-up exercise every quarter of the year from Nima Police Station to the overhead.”
