Ghanaians abroad: Gyan on target again

With some of the leagues around the world on a short break, a few Ghanaian players were in action this weekend, with Asamoah Gyan on target yet again for Al Ain and Michael Essien also getting game time at Chelsea

England

In the FA Cup, Albert Adomah replaced Emanuel Ledesma in the 45th minute as Middlesbrough lost 0-2 to Hull City.

Jeffrey Schlupp was replaced by David Nugent in the 68th minute as Leicester City lost 1-2 to Stoke City.

Michael Essien was replaced by Eden Hazard in the 55th minute as Chelsea beat Derby County 2-0.

Spain

In La Liga, Richmond Boakye Yiadom played the full match as Elche lost 0-4 to Barcelona.

In Segunda, Thomas Partey played the full match as Mallorca drew 2-2 with Las Palmas.

France

In the Coupe de France, Charles Boateng played the full match as Avranches lost 1-3 to Lens.

Italy

In the Serie A, Alfred Duncan replaced Marco Biagianti in injury time as Livorno lost 0-1 to Fiorentina.

Kwadwo Asamoah played the full game as Juventus thrashed AS Roma 3-0.

Cyprus

In the 1.Division, Carlos Ohene was replaced by Targino in the 60th minute whilst Ebo Andoh was an unused substitute as AEL drew 2-2 with APOEL.

Samad Oppong was an unused substitute as Ethnikos Achna lost 0-2 to AEK Larnaca. Mustapha Quaynor replaced Stavros Christoudias in the 34th minute as Alki lost 1-2 to Ermis.

Greece

In the Super League, Aziz Tetteh played the full match as Platanias drew 2-2 with Veria.

Portugal

In the Portuguese FA Cup, Alhassan Wakaso was an unused substitute as Rio Ave beat Vitoria Setubal 1-0.

Tunisia

In Ligue 1, Seidu Salifu played the full match as Club Africain beat Stade Tunisien 2-0.

Ali Mombay played the full match as Kairouan lost 0-1 to Metlaoui. Harrison Afful played the full match as Esperance beat EGS Gafsa 3-0.

United Arab Emirates

In the Arabian Gulf League, Emmanuel Clottey replaced Saif Mohammed at half time and was booked almost immediately as Al Dhafra lost 1-3 to Al Ahli.

Asamoah Gyan scored in the 13th minute and was replaced 13 minutes from time by Salem Abdulla as Al Ain thrashed Al Wasl 3-0.
