Opare can stop Ronaldo, coach Opeele

Ghana Under-17 assistant coach Isaac Opeele Boateng believes Standard Liege’s Daniel Opare is capable of stopping Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2014 World Cup.

He said once the young Ghanaian rearguard has been able to put the brakes on Neymar and recently on an in-form Mohammed Salah, the Real Madrid star man is no big deal.

“I have watched videos of Ronaldo and with critical looks, it is Daniel Opare who can put brakes on him,” the former Asante Kotoko coach told Sports Xtra. “Opare is very stubborn on the pitch and on one-on-one situation with Ronaldo, he can out-fox and out-box him.”

“Opare is a very hard tackler of the ball and that is why he stopped Mohammed Salah when Ghana played against Egypt. All he needs to work on is his acceleration and heading of the ball,” the outspoken coach said.

Opare has been efficient on both the right and left rear of the Black Stars and he is one of the players who has a heart for big occasions.
