The 16 Premier League clubs will receive the first installment of their share of sponsorship money tomorrow following the deal between the Ghana Football Association and South African broadcaster, SuperSport.
At the official launch of the television sponsorship deal in Accra, GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi expressed the hope that the sponsorship apart from providing the clubs with much-needed funds, would also provide them and the League a means of attracting other sponsors.
“The decision of corporate sponsors to sponsor our clubs is influenced a great deal by television coverage, and SuperSport will be providing us with quality coverage; and this will attract many brands to associate with our clubs and League,” he said.
Mr Nyantakyi also confirmed that the first payment will be arriving tomorrow, but fell short of disclosing the details because of a “non-disclosure clause” in the contract.
“The first payment will reach the clubs next Tuesday, the rest will come at scheduled times. I wish I could disclose the amount involved in the deal but because of company policy I cannot.”
In attendance at the ceremony were the top brass of SuperSport, GFA executives and representatives of the Premier League clubs.
