Berekum Chelsea reaps 475, 000 dollars from CAF campaign

Berekum Chelsea are 475,000 dollars richer for their participation in the 2012 CAF Champions League.

The amount was the share allotted to team’s that placed third in the mini-league stage, according to a circular from the continent’s soccer governing body, Confederation of African Football (CAF) to National Associations.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) also pocketed 25,000 dollars by virtue of Berekum Chelsea’s involvement in the premier continental club championship.

The 2010/2011 league champions finished third in Group B behind Egyptian giants, Ahly and TP Mazembe of DR Congo whilst Zamalek also of Egypt occupied the depth of the standings.

Berekum Chelsea and Algerian side ASO Chlef will receive the same amount whilst TP Mazembe and Sunshine Stars of Nigeria will each be entitled to 665,000 dollars.

Holders Esperance of Tunisia and Ahly have reached the final of the flagship African club championship which will see the winner going home with 1,425,000 dollars and 950,000 dollars for the runner-up.
