Kotoko adamant midfielder Adjei is not sold

Asante Kotoko insist midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei has not been sold to TP Mazembe as widely publicized.

Last season’s Premier League Most Valuable Player underwent a medical with the DR Congo giants earlier this month.

This was after Kotoko had agreed to a tabled offer from the former African champions for the services of the 24-year-old.

Nii Adjei however played for Kotoko in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Berekum Arsenals.

His involvement in Kotoko’s first win of the season has raised a lot of questions over the status of the Ghana international.

But the champions say the midfielder is still theirs.

“I want to make it emphatically clear that Nii Adjei has not been sold to any club,” Kotoko’s spokesman Listowell Yesu Bukarson told Angel FM.

“And that is why he was able to play for us over the weekend. There is no way a player can serve under two different contracts at the same time.

“There was an offer made by TP Mazembe for the player and we are still in discussions but the bottom line is that he has not been sold.”
