Tony Baffoe lauds Black Stars team spirit

Former Black Stars defender, Tony Baffoe has lauded the team spirit of the senior national soccer team during their Africa Cup of Nation’s final round qualifier against Malawi. Baffoe believes the team must maintain that spirit because it’s the perfect recipe if they are to end the country’s Africa Cup trophy drought.

Kwasi Appiah earlier this month became the 12th local coach to guide Ghana to the Africa Cup of Nations billed for South Africa 2013. Last Wednesday’s draw has since pitted the Black Stars in Group B against DR Congo, Mali and Niger for the tournaments panning January 19 to February 10. “I love the spirit of the team, just look at how John Panstil allows Asamoah Gyan to captain the team against Malawi. That tells you that there is the spirit of togetherness in the team and it is very important to have a united team. With what I’m seeing in this team, they can probably do well at next year’s Nations’ Cup in South Africa if only they carry that spirit into the tournament.

The German born former Ghana international is also counting on ex-international teammate, Kwesi Appiah to work on their progress. “With a national team, there is always room for improvement and I know the technical team are aware of that and will be working towards that before the Nations’ Cup starts in three months’ time,” Baffoe told URA Radio Sports in Bolgatanga.
