Kofi Adu ready to take Champions League by storm

Young midfielder Enoch Kofi Adu is enjoying his stay with Nordsjaeland in Denmark so much he marked his 22nd birthday last week by signing a 3 year extension to his contract at the club to 2015. Former Liberty Professionals player Adu made the switch from OGC Nice of France at the beginning of the 2009/10 season and has become a welcome stay in the midfield for Nordsjaeland. After leading the 9-year old club to their first Danish league title last term, the Ghanaian youngster has vowed to help extend their good run into the UEFA Champions’ League. They make their debut on Wednesday away to Shaktar Donetsk in Ukraine, with group games against defending champions Chelsea and former winners Juventus Turin to come.

But the Ghanaian youngster insists there is nothing to fear but earnestly relishing the opportunity to play against some of world football’s biggest clubs. “Everything is okay here and we are looking to make it to the next level and that’s in the Champions’ League. We know there are some tough teams in our group but we’ll do our best to get at least a point in all our games so we are ready. It’s a good feeling and we hope to get a point in Ukraine,” Kofi Adu told 90 MINUTES from his Denmark base exclusively on Monday night.

The youngster is also keenly following developments within the national team and steadfastly praying for helmsman Kwesi Appiah to extend his scouting network to Denmark and therefore his games for Norksjaeland. “Yes winning the league and playing in the Champions League is a good feeling for me too and I hope the Black Stars coach does follow us to know that we are doing very good here so we hope to hear from them soon,” Enoch Adu Kofi said.
