London, Aug. 29, GNA – Bishop Cornelius Adja Cofie, Chef D’ Mission of Team Ghana at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London and the President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has described morale in camp as “very high” following the payment of all pre-event allowances to the athletes and the technical team.

He told GNA Sports in London on Tuesday, that a total of 13, 200USD have been paid to the four athletes and three technical officials of the team, which represents all their per-diem covering the past weeks in camp.

According to Bishop Adja Cofie, each of the four athletes received 2,400 as per diem for camping over the last four weeks, whilst the technical officials took home 1,200 USD for the camping days.

The NPC President noted that the payment of the outstanding allowances was a major boost to their preparations as it was the first time paralympic athletes are receiving their allowances ahead of the Games.

“All the athletes were very happy with the payment and this has increased their morale and placed them in a good spirit to compete.

“I can say it is unprecedented in the paralympic family and I hope it translates into performance as we look forward to make an impact in the competition.” Bishop Adja Cofie noted.

Anita Fordjour and Botyso Nkegbe (athletics), Alem Mumuni and Charles Narh Teye, Powerlifting and Cycling respectively with Shaaban Mohammed, George King Ferguson and Alexandria Main, members of the technical team received the allowances.
