Waris responds to Black Stars snub by scoring five goals

Abdul Majid Waris responded to his national team snub by scoring FIVE GOALS in Hacken’s 6-0 drubbing of Norrkorping on Wednesday evening in the Swedish top flight.
The 20-year-old was shockingly excluded from a 30-man squad released by Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah earlier on Wednesday for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia in June.
But the youngster, who was Ghana’s hottest striker anywhere on the planet on averages this year, showed why his omission was a mistake by scoring five times in Wednesday’s game.
The on fire Waris single-handedly destroyed Norrkorping by scoring in the 5th, 13th, 44th, 52nd and 66th minute with Martin Ericsson scoring the other on the stroke of half-time.
He thus makes history as the first Ghanaian to score five goals in a single top-flight game in Europe.
The Tamale-born attacker is the leading goal scorer in Sweden after hitting eight in four consecutive games to take his overall tally to twelve in nine matches this season.
His exclusion is even more worrying at a time that proven Ghana goalscorers Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew are not available.
Waris made his Black Stars debut in February’s 1-1 draw with Chile in an international friendly played in the United States.
