Adiyiah ponders Sunderland loan move

Sunderland could be set for a loan deal for World Cup star Dominic Adiyiah-after the Ghana striker revealed he would be interested in joining the Black Cats.

The 20-year-old joined AC Milan in January, having impressed at last year’s Under-20 World Cup, but has yet to figure for the Serie A side.

New head coach Massimiliano Allegri has a host of attacking talent to pick from-including Brazilians Ronaldinho and Pato, Dutchman Klass-Jan Huntelaar and the homegrown trio of Filippo Inzaghi, Gianmarco zigoni and Marco Borriello.

Milan have also been linked with a move for rival Inter forward Mario Balotelli, and Allegri has made it clear he is willing to farm Adiyiah out on a season-long loan.

Sources in Italy suggesting the player – who will have had favourable reports about Wearside from fellow countryman John Mensah – would consider joining Sunderland.

Accra-born, Adiyiah was discovered and developed by the Feyenoord academy before spells back in Ghana and then Norway.

Though his Milan career has yet to take off, he has made a mark at international level.

Ghana won the Under-20 World Cup last October, when Adiyiah was the tournament’s top scorer and voted its best player.

He has eight senior caps, having starred in January’s African Nations Cup, when Ghana finished runners-up, and made two appearances during the current World Cup.
