Arsenal Boss Regrets Failing To Land Essien

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he's slipped up in the transfer market in the past by failing to sign Ghana's Michael Essien.

Wenger also regrets missing out on signing Claude Makelele and Real Madrid's former Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Asked to name players he regretted not signing for Arsenal, he said: We could have signed Essien, we could have signed Makelele and it didn’t work.

“There were many in fact. We were close to signing Ronaldo before Man United and so you have already a few big names together there!
