Starlets player for medical review

Black Starlets striker, Abeiku Quansah, will undergo a medical review of his fractured shoulder after being fouled during Ghana's game against Cote d'Ivore in the African Junior Championship qualifier on Sunday.

The player was expected to see doctors in Accra yesterday for an assessment of the injury.

The striker, after rounding up the Ivorian goalkeeper, Serge Akoudjou in the box was tripped in the process and fell on his shoulder resulting in the injury.

Quansah was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The referee, however, ignored the foul on the striker in the box and signaled for play to go on.

Ghana also had a Kevin Bossman goal disallowed in the first half.

The result of Quansah?s injury would determine his availability for the return leg in two weeks time.

The Ivorians, handled by former national goalkeeper, Alain Gouam?n?, beat Ghana 3-1 at home.

Ghana would need a 2-0 win in the second leg tie to edge out the Ivorians.

Seven out of the 14 countries in this second and final round will join host Togo in the finals of the African Junior Championship that takes place from 11 to 25 March 2007.
