Westland FC eye Wa All Stars upset in FA Cup

They may only bae playing in the third tier of Ghanaian league football but Yaw Preko’s Westland FC have sworn to upset top flight side, Wa All Stars when they clash in the last 64 tie of the MTN FA Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday. Westland booked the date of destiny against All Stars after eliminating fellow Division Two league side, Holy Stars from the Volta Region 4-0 in the earlier round.

Now they face All Stars as massive underdogs but with the game set to be shown live on national television, the young players of Westland FC are determined to leave their mark and have sworn to up their game in expectation of a huge upset.

“Initially we were just happy to qualify for the draw against all the big teams in Ghanaian football. You know we could have been drawn against Hearts, Kotoko or Ashantigold. Thinking about that made us happy,” Westland defender Daniel Busomprah told 90 MINUTES after they defeated Daughters FC in a friendly game at the ATTC Park in Accra last Thursday.

Young Busomprah, nicknamed Bazaar continued: “But now that we have seen the draw and know it’s a game of 90 minutes, we know anything can happen. We cannot even dream of what Nania FC did two years ago but we believe we can also do something and the game will also be shown live on TV. That’s what I’m happy about. It can be a breakthrough for anyone who gets the opportunity to play.”
