Hearts of Oak surprisingly dropped points at home but still maintain their first position after picking up just a point against champions AshGold at the Accra Sports Stadium today.

Hearts of Oak coach Sergio Traquil was dealt the blow of not having lead striker Cosmos Dauda for the second game on the spin and his absence was felt after the first fifteen minutes with the Phobians creating a lot but failing to put the ball at the back of the net.

AshGold themselves were not all about defending after influential defender Kadiri Mohammmed fired a half volley from the center of the park only for goalkeeper Soulama Absoulaye to parry away.

The Phobians were clearly on top dictating proceedings from the center and star midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim having much of the ball but failing to create a clean sheet of opportunities.

But just before half time Hearts of Oak was awarded a penalty and Robin Gnagne stepped forward and sent goalkeeper Fatau Dauda the wrong way to put the Phobians ahead.

The lead did not last as AshGold produced an answer of their own with Anthony Yerful also converting from the spot to give the Miners their response.

The second half saw a drop in tempo with both teams playing very cautiously off course with an aim of not dropping all points.

The Phobians were left with all to do after defender Inusah musah was sent off leaving the Phobians with ten men having to win against a tough AshGold side.

The last ten minutes saw a desperate Hearts of Oak side throwing everything to the sink but tried as they did it was met with either a good AshGold defense or goalkeeper Fatau Dauda was just too good to be beaten.

The Point picked up means Hearts of Oak move to 39 having played 22 games but still maintain their first place position.
