The league will not be stopped - GHALCA chairman declares

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo has declared that the ongoing GPL will not be stopped amid reports that Tema Youth has won their long-standing legal case against the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In the aftermath of the 2015 GN Bank Division One League, Tema Youth lodged an appeal that winners of Zone 3 table Dreams FC used an unqualified player during the season and therefore should not be promoted to the elite division of Ghana football. However, after losing the case at the GFA Disciplinary Committee and also the Appeals Committee, Tema Youth took the issue to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for further clarification, where they have been declared victors and hence have the right to participate in this season’s premier league.

But, as pressure continue to mount on the GFA from football enthusiasts and administrators for clarification and stance on the issue, the representatives of the Premier League clubs yesterday met to discuss how best the looming disaster of the league coming to an abrupt end can be solved.

And speaking to Happy FM’s Reuben Obodai, Kudjoe Fianoo stated clear that,” We are not going to stop the league at this juncture. There’s the need to continue with the league while the legal committee of the GFA handles the CAS verdict involving the Tema Youth case.”

“We’ve just started the discussions with our members and so we don’t want to put too much pressure on the FA, but if there’s a delay in the ruling we will call for speedy solution and therefore we’ll not give any timeline for now,” Kudjoe Fianoo deduced.
