Son, Elizabeth qualify for World Peugeot golf

Jae Seung Son and Elizabeth Essel-Koomson qualified to represent Ghana in the World International Peugeot Challenge Golf Championship scheduled for France in September, this year.

Son returned 66 net while Elizabeth scored 70 net to win the Men's and Ladies event respectively of the National Peugeot Challenge Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday.

P.L. Quartey came second with 68 net, beating Kwame Luck on count-back while Mona Captan placed second with 70 net losing on count-back to the champion with the third position going to Mary Oppong with 71 net.

The one-day competition which was played to select Ghana's representatives for the World event, was sponsored by Prestige Motor Company Limited.

Mr Kwadwo-Baah-Wiredu, Minister for Youth, Education and Sports in an address read for him, said his ministry would do everything possible to ensure that the lesser-known sports are developed.

He called on all corporate bodies and institutions to support the government's efforts in this direction.

Mr Nich Adi-Dako, Managing Director of Prestige Motor Company assisted the minister to distribute prizes to the winners.

He gave the assurance that his company would continue to support the sport as a contribution to its development.
