Relegation not our portion – Wa All Stars’ Seidu Zida

Stand-in captain for Wa All Stars, Seidu Zida says there is no way his side will get involved in the relegation battle as the second round of the Glo Premier League kick-starts this weekend but would rather be aiming for a more comfortable position.

All Stars had a very difficult first round with three wins, six draws and six defeats out of the 15 matches played, to amass 15 points. This put the team just above the relegation zone on goal differences with the other teams that are in the relegation zone, as the second round of the league commences this weekend.

The Wa based side will open their second round league battle with a home tie against Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday at the Wa Sports Stadium. However, the former Black Satellites player who is now the acting captain of the side after the departure of previous skipper, Robert Dabuo to Ashantigold has told Gbc Ura Radio Sports in Bolgatanga that he is more than confident that the team has all it takes to end the league in a very comfortable position.

“We did not get a good start in the first round and I think with the addition of new players like Atia Sumaila who is joining us from Medeama and Eric Mensah who has formerly played for Asante Kotoko, I believe the second round is going to be a very good round for us and I won’t be surprised if we end up in the top 4,” Zida said.

The All Stars skipper indicated that though only goal differences separates many teams at the lower end of the league standings after the first round, the team need not engage in fighting for relegation survival but would rather be focused on finishing in a more comfortable position. “I’m assuring all our fans that relegation is not our portion so they should count it out,” he stated confidently.
