Quality is my hallmark not personal issues – Grant

Ghana coach Avram Grant has re-iterated that quality is his first criteria for selecting Black Stars players and not personal vendetta with certain players.

The Israeli trainer was speaking in reference to his failure to invite inform goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey.

Kwarasey is reported to have launched a foul-mouthed tirade at Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Nassam Yakubu after the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Attempts have been made to have the former Stromsgodset goalkeeper return to the national team with the recent being an invitation for the friendly match against Canada last month.

But the 27-year-old was unable to honour the invitation due to club commitment.

According to Grant, he does not factor in personal sentiments when making call ups to the Black Stars but stressed players must make his criteria for selection.

“I don’t have any personal issue with anybody in the Black Stars. For me I work for the team and nothing else.

“There are three criteria I use to select players, first is quality, second is personality and third is commitment to the national team is the most important,” he told reporters at a press conference.
