Kevin Prince-Boateng set for Milan axe

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that Kevin-Prince Boateng will be leaving the club when his contract ends this summer.

Speaking to Telelombardi, the Rossoneri's honorary president has confirmed that the Ghanaian midfielder will be cut loose alongside a number of key talents, with another high-profile player—Mario Balotelli—set to return to parent club Liverpool.

"There are many departures in sight, and Mario is one who will end his contract with us," Berlusconi told Telelombardi.

"There is also [Philippe] Mexes, Alex, [Kevin-Prince] Boateng and others, all five are at the end of their contract, and then some other names that we put on the [transfer] market."

It's little surprise that KPB is among the casualties in Milan's anticipated summer clear-out, despite only returning to the club during the January transfer window.

The box-to-box operator spent three years in Lombardy between 2010 and 2013—winning the Italian title and the Super Cup in 2011—before moving to Schalke 04.

After things turned sour in the Bundesliga, the 29-year-old returned to Italy earlier this year when Milan secured his services on a short-term deal after he was released by his previous employers.

Boateng made his second competitive debut for the San Siro giants in a 1-1 Serie A draw at AS Roma, before finding the net during a brief cameo in his next match—a 2-0 victory over Fiorentina.

However, Prince struggled to make the desired impact during his second stint at the club, and ended the year with just 11 Serie A appearances—of which just one came from the start
