NSC Boss Gets International Appointment

National Sports Council (NSC) acting Chief Executive, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah has been appointed executive board member and research advisor of the International Academy of Table Tennis Sciences.

By this new post, Dr. Owusu-Ansah automatically becomes an advisor to the International Editorial Board of the continental research (IEBCR) of the Academy of Table Tennis Science based in Japan.

He joins Olukemi Olugbile of Nigeria as the only two Africans on the Academy. In another development, the NSC boss has been invited by the German Sports University of the Institute of Sociology of Sports to deliver a paper at the forthcoming 2nd World Congress of Sociology of Sports in Cologne.

The one-week congress which will bring together a constellation of ports scientists begins on June 18 to 21, this year. It is the third time in two years that Dr. Owusu-Ansah has been called upon by a reputable international body to present a paper on sports.

Held under the auspices of the United Nations Education Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the NSC boss made a presentation at Yamoussokro, Cote d’ Ivoire in 2001 on the theme: “Effect of colonization on our indigenous sports activities.”

All things being equal, Dr. Owusu-Ansah will leave Accra by June 14 for the German congress where he will be expected to produce a paper on the theme :Round-table of sports and daily peace”
