More than 100 Nigerians to vie for Econet golf trophy

About 120 Nigerian business executives would assemble at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra to vie for the Second Econet Corporate Challenge Golf championship trophy on Saturday, June Seven to Sunday, June Eight.

Mr Sammy Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, said in Accra on Friday that winners of the two day competition dubbed "Roam in Ghana, Score in Spain" would participate in the finals of the Sixth Annual World Corporate Challenge competition scheduled for Spain in July, this year.

He said the club is putting everything in place to ensure that the course is fully playable.

Mr Emeka Oparah, Head of the Corporate Affairs of Econet Wireless Limited in Nigeria, said the choice of Ghana for the competition is to provide the golfers a level playing field which only a course outside Nigeria could offer.

He said it is also to provide the golfers a unique environment to have a good competition as well as enjoy themselves away from home.

Arcadia Limited, Custodian and Allied Insurance Limited and Econet Wireless are sponsoring the event.
