Medeama prepare ammunition for Kotoko

Big spending Medeama SC finally appear to be up and ready to end their trophy drought following a good start to the 2012/13 Glo Ghana Premier League season.

Medeama maintained their 3-point advantage at the top after notching their second away win already, the goals of Kabiru Imoro and Masawudu Suleman seeing off RTU in Tamale.

13 points gained from a possible 15 for Medeama who have also already beaten a direct rival for the title, Berekum Chelsea. But according to Albert Commey, a Vice President of the Tarkwa club, they remain focused on their ambitions, chief among them to beat champions Asante Kotoko on the next match day. “We are waiting for them. We are a sporting club, we know the rules and we know how difficult it is to be at the top. We never give up, that’s our motto. Prediction is in the hands of only the Lord but we know what we are about,” Mr. Commey said in an exclusive interview. He continued: “We know we are playing against the defending champions, we’ll be cautious but work hard to beat them. They have not started the league well so people may think they are not a threat but we are not oblivious of the fact that they are still Kotoko.”

Mr. Commey is also not surprised at Medeama’s terrific start after the woes of last season which saw them only finish in 4th place even after a magnificent run to end the season.

“Not really. For us, we are looking at the 30 matches. We respect all the 15 clubs and we will take each match as it comes. It will be naive to be complacent, we have to maintain and keep working harder than before,” he said. Albert Commey added: “Other clubs now have their eyes on us, people will also start planning against us so we have to stay focused. The battle lines are being drawn and it’s going to get even more difficult so it will be naïve to start celebrating.”
