Massive player exodus in Hearts of Oak

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have frozen out EIGHT high-profile players including defender Philip Boampong and striker Selasi Adjei in a massive shake-up that has hit the club.

Midfielders Issah Mumuni, Ollenu Ashitey, Emmanuel Hayford, Richard Yamoah as well as Isaac Oduro and Eric Kumi have all been told to pack their luggage, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The club has already confirmed the departure of striker Gilbert Fiamenyo as well as midfielder Kofi Abanga

Fiamenyo, an ex-Heart of Lions striker, refused contract extension following constant scrutiny over his performance last season.

Perhaps the dismissal of Boampong will come as little surprise as the former Ghana Under-20 defender failed to impress on his return to the club.

Boampong, the junior brother of ex-Hearts defender Dan Coleman was miserably poor, leading to the decision to exclude him from the club’s 28-man squad for next season.

Striker Selasi Adjei has suffered a similar fate after his career was blighted with recurrent injuries despite his fine showing at the club.

Defender Kwaku Andoh has also abrogated his contract with the club, even though he had one year left to conclude his contract.

Hearts are in deep financial crisis amid bitter power struggle which has rocked the former African champions for the past three seasons.

Majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV has come under mounting pressure over the club’s no-show in the transfer market.

The club have been in constant self-denial despite the jury being out with their lack of financial warchest hindering their quest to attract big-name players.
