MTN Soccer Academy ‘Skuulz Challenge’

– The boys are in the house!

After weeks of rigorous screening exercise and a most thrilling Induction Ceremony, the fourteen (14) students who were selected as team mates to participate in Season 6 of MTN Soccer Academy Reality Show dubbed ‘’The Skuulz Challenge” were ushered into the MTN Soccer Academy House. The final fourteen (14) Teammates spent their first week in the house socializing and taking the first steps towards effectively bonding with each other.

Having had their first training session at the St. Thomas Aquinas School Park, in Accra, under the tutelage of celebrated Ghanaian coach, Coach Herbert Addo, the teammates are quickly coming to terms with the rudiments of professional football such as improved ball control, passing, heading amongst other tactics.

In addition to honing their football skills, the teammates, as is the custom with the MTN Soccer Academy Reality Show, take time to visit the premises of Supporting Sponsors of the Season. In line with this, the teammates visited NALLEM CLOTHING LIMITED, where they were welcomed by Mr. Philip Adjei, an Officer of the company, who handed them over to the company’s Fashion Designers to get their measurements taken for their designer outfits. On Christmas Day, December 25th, 2012, the teammates joined several other fans at the National Theatre to witness K.S.M’s event dubbed ‘The Secrets of GH Girls’ to give them some relaxation after days of intensive training. On Boxing Day, December 26th, 2012, all 14 teammates were taken through a special therapy at “X-MEN GROOMING”, where they had manicure, pedicure, haircut and massages as part of measures to give them a professional grooming touch as well as to psyche them up for the competition. The teammates were also offered the opportunity to share their lifelong aspirations on a “vision board” created by flipping through magazines and pasting cut-out pictures on clipboards to give a graphical illustration along with a verbal presentation of what they desire to become in the course of their budding football careers.

This particular exercise gave a fair idea of what to expect of them when they become prominent football icons on the world stage. Selected teammates were hosted in the Studio by Eddy Blay Jnr., long standing Master of Ceremonies of the MTN Soccer Academy Reality Show, in an INTERACTIVE SHOW to boost their confidence level ahead of the weekly live interactive shows which constitute segments of the MTN Soccer Academy. The teammates also took on Metro TV Staff in their first unofficial seven-a-side Beach Soccer game on December 29, 2012, at the La Bamah beach which saw the likes of Sammy Banini, Jones Addai, Moses Coffie Ace TV award winning reporter Samuel Agyemang, all of Metro TV, together with his colleagues featuring in a 60-minute match which ended 1-0 in favour of the teammates.

The MTN Soccer Academy is organized by Optimum Media Prime (OMP) with MTN as its Title Sponsor and is in its 6th Season dubbed “The Skuulz Challenge.”
