League Board to decide on venue for play-off

Accra, April 5, GNA - The Division One League Board (DOLB) has selected the Tema Sports Stadium for Sunday's play off match between relegation threatened Okwawu and Swedru All Blacks. The decision was arrived at after a meeting between members of the DOLB and the Professional League Board (PLB) on Tuesday. Mr Douglass Djarbeng, Chairman of the DOLB who revealed this to the 10,000 cedis will be charged at the gates.

All Blacks, one of the favoured teams to gain a straight qualification into the premiership placed a disappointing third at the end of the Middle League while Okwawu placed third from the bottom after the 2005 premiership.

The match will signal the official end of the 2005 soccer season for both the national Premier League and the Division One league. The game will determine which of the sides pick the remaining single slot to the elite division after the automatic qualification of Great Olympics and Tema Youth by virtue of their first and second positions at the just ended National Middle League.

Okwawu United are gradually gaining recognition as experts in play-offs as they engaged in the same battle last season against Sekondi Hasaacas to keep their premiership status.

This was after the adoption of the Zonal League last season, with third from bottom clubs from each zone engaging in a play-off to decide which of them remains in the premiership. A fierce competition is therefore expected on Sunday since All Blacks have vowed to make a return to the elite league after been away for the past years, whilst Okwawu are bent on keeping their master card intact.
